Franklin County Technical School Student Elected State President of FFA

Justin Phelps Lawrence, a senior at Franklin County Technical School in the Landscaping/Horticulture department, has been elected to the presidency of the state association of FFA. Justin is a resident of Bernardston and the first ever Franklin County student to achieve this office.

FFA is a national career and technical student organization for students studying agriculture. In Massachusetts, FFA serves over 1000 students in 14 school chapters. FFA is the largest youth organization in the world. Justin’s term in office will include a number of activities, including participation in a Washington D.C. Youth Leadership Conference. While in Washington, he is scheduled to tour the White House and meet with President George W. Bush. He will also travel to Indianapolis in the fall to serve as a delegate at the National FFA Convention. Additionally, he will serve as a guest speaker at the Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation.

Justin indicated, “FFA has improved my leadership skills and taught me how to set goals and timelines and to follow those through to completion. I’m proud to have this opportunity to represent Franklin County Technical School at both the state and national level.”
