State
Representative Christopher J. Donelan recently visited the tuition-free
computer-aided design course offered to veterans at the Franklin County Technical
School
in Turners Falls. This course has been offered by Guy Lapollo who is a
blueprint and CAD instructor at the school.
The goal of this course has been to introduce participants to basic skills and
to explore career opportunities in computer-aided drafting, design and
layout. Michael Truckey, Director of the Franklin Hampshire Career Center in Greenfield,
discussed the possibility of expanding this course to include additional
adult
instruction as well as employment enhancement opportunities for individuals
already employed in the local machining trades. Ron Matuszko, local veteran’s employment representative, stated that the invitation for Mr. Lapollo’s
course was sent out in September to area veterans and was pleased at the terrific
turnout for this course. Photo, left to right: Phil Bennington from Athol, Representative Donelan, Kevin
