Pre-Employment Program (PEP)

Raises $500 for the Dakin Animal Shelter

SCARF SALE IS A SUCCESS!

Pictured are Alicia Rhodes and Anna Dignman who were among the many students who learned about the value and importance of the Dakin Animal Shelter. The students created posters about the animal shelter, arranged the tables and scarves, greeted customers, and worked as a cashier for the initial fund-raising activity. Charles Choleva, instructor in the PEP program is pictured working with students on making change following a sale.
A customer makes the difficult choice of selecting a scarf from the many beautiful colors and styles available. Over 90 gorgeous scarves were hand knitted and donated by Charlotte Choleva. A huge thank you from everyone at FCTS for her generosity and wonderful skills!
Sales person, Heather Weber, stands ready to greet and answer any questions that the customers may have. The students in the PEP program created a presentation board that showed the value of adoption and the financial needs of the shelter. All proceeds of the sale went to the Dakin Animal Shelter.

The PEP program is a unique, tuition based program designed for students with cognitive challenges. This small, but effective program works with students on many educational and independent living skills. Academic skills such as reading, math and critical thinking are practiced daily. Life skills such as cooking and laundry, and shop trade skills such as auto detailing, recycling processing, and office technology are some of the employment skills that offer our students a better chance toward future independent living and job placement.
