It's a Great Opportunity!An exciting
opportunity is available to the students in the Health Technology
program. In collaboration with STCC, Health Tech students are exploring
the diverse
field of medical careers by their involvement in a wonderful STCC
program geared to enlightening students to the many facets of the health
care career field. Health Tech students are involved in the SIMS program
- a hospital simulation program with advanced medical mannequins. As
the program proceeds, these students
will also explore radiology, surgical technician career experience and
laboratory career options. Students attend classes on the STCC campus
as part of their FCTS Health Technology education program.
This program is a wonderful opportunity for high
school students who are seriously considering careers in the medical
field. In association with the Health Career Opportunities Program
-- The Pioneer Valley Allied Health Career Pipeline, School of Health
and Patient Simulation/Springfield
Technical Community College and FCTS-- our students are being given
training and experience far beyond the norm of the average high school
student. The health technology curriculum that Massachusetts
vocational high schools have developed is perfectly aligned to such
innovative programs such as that at STCC. Our students and teachers
are thrilled to be part of this collaboration. One look at the curriculum content of the program, and it is quite
apparent that FCTS Health Tech students will be far ahead of the career
curve upon graduation. With the demand in medical careers expected
to grow (Health
Career Opportunities Projection)
this training is a doorway to a successful career path.
