Our Alumni
Alumni
Profile Corner is proud to showcase alumni spanning
the 34 years of vocational education that FCTS has provided.
Graduates
of Franklin County Technical School are employed in many occupations.
Some alumni moved directly into the workforce following graduation.
Others went on to higher education in academic and
technical colleges and others went off to the military.
History shows a mix of alumni who continued in the trades they
studied while at FCTS, and some who used the work
and trade skills learned as a launching
point into other career choices.
In all cases, FCTS alumni make up the fabric of strong communities throughout the region.
The trade skills, workplace skills and academic skills developed while at FCTS, gave
the once young grads the foundation for their successes of today.
FCTS alumni are among the employees, business owners and taxpayers
of their communities. For over 30 years, FCTS, the technical school
that serves
the communities of Franklin County, has been honored to be
the provider of vocational education for thousands of teens in the
area.

About Bill:
Bill Gallant lives in Greenfield with Gina, his wife of 27 years. Bill
and Gina have two children and two grandchildren. Bill
is a family man who enjoys his family and is often seen
around town with his grandson, Sean. Bill worked as
an electrician for many years following his graduation from the FCTS electrical
program. In 1999 Bill took on a different career when
he became an electrical teacher for FCTS. Bill is currently
employed as one of two teachers in the popular electrical
program. Bill has become a promoter for green initiatives
and is a leader for a number of the FCTS recycling initiatives.
He
is an advocate for the use solar technologies and is
incorporating that knowledge and passion into
his electrical program. In order to better serve the
students, and to
continue his own skills, Bill has earned his entry level
NABCEP certification in photovoltaic knowledge.
Choosing FCTS:
When asked if attending FCTS was a good decision, Bill
responded that FCTS gave him all of the basic skills
he needed to open doors
upon graduation. Bill feels that he needed a high
school experience that mixed trade skills into the
educational experience. FCTS proved to be the right model for Bill.
A Final Note:
As Alumni Coordinator, Bill has taken the concept of an Alumni Association
from infancy to a large databank of historical alumni
information and was the driving force behind the hugely
successful Alumni Gathering. It seemed fitting that Bill
should be the first alumni profile we featured. Thanks Bill
for all your work!
