Source to Sea Clean-up 2009

Students and staff from the Pre-Employment Program, along with nearly 40 other students from FCTS took part in the third annual "Source to Sea Cleanup" project which is run by the Northfield Mountain Center.

Students from the Pre-Employment are not novices to environmental efforts. The students are the foundation of a very successful recycling program at FCTS, ensuring that cardboard, paper, plastic and cans are properly gathered, sorted and discarded for recycling.

Green employment is a growing job market across the country. The experience students are receiving in the program can really benefit future employment opportunities.Students in the Pre-Employment program have seen the operations of a large-scale recycling business. They understand the disposal to final destination of properly sorted and recyled waste. In so many ways, the students and teachers in Pre-Employment program are learning to better understand the human impact on our environment and how they can lessen the negative impact.

The Source to Sea clean-up was a great opportunity to teach the students even more about the world we live in and how to work together to make positive change. Their enthusiasim and hard work was evidenced by the large quantity of litter and materials they gathered.

Great Job Students and Teachers of the PEP Program!!
